Stick Jump — The Basics

Stick Jump is a one-tap arcade game where you guide a stickman across an endless series of platforms. Your only tool is a telescoping stick that you extend by holding down the mouse button or tapping the screen. The goal: bridge the gap perfectly.

Controls

🖱️

Desktop

Click and hold the left mouse button to extend the stick. Release to drop it. That's the only control.

📱

Mobile / Tablet

Tap and hold anywhere on the screen to grow the stick. Lift your finger to let it fall forward.

⌨️

Keyboard

Press and hold the spacebar to extend the stick. Release the spacebar to drop it onto the next platform.

Step-by-Step Guide

01

Observe the Gap

Before pressing anything, take a moment to visually estimate the distance between your current platform and the next one. Notice the width of both platforms — the landing zone may be narrow.

02

Hold to Extend

Press and hold to begin growing the stick. The stick extends upward from the edge of your platform at a constant rate. The longer you hold, the longer the stick becomes. Watch its length carefully — this is the moment that determines success or failure.

03

Release to Drop

When you feel the stick is the right length, release the button. The stick pivots 90 degrees and falls flat, forming a bridge between the two platforms. If the far end lands on the next platform, you're safe.

04

Walk Across

Your stickman automatically walks across the stick bridge. If the stick reaches the other platform, congratulations — you score a point and the camera pans to the next gap.

05

Beware Overshooting

The stick must land ON the next platform. If it's too short, your stickman falls into the gap. If it's too long and extends past the far edge of the platform, the stickman walks off the end. Both are game over.

Chase Your Score

Each successful crossing adds one point. The game stores your high score locally. Keep playing to improve your record. As you progress, the platforms become narrower and the distances more varied, increasing the difficulty.

Pro Tips & Advanced Strategies

  • Develop a mental rhythm — count internally while holding to build muscle memory for stick lengths.
  • Focus on the far edge of the target platform, not the gap itself. Your depth perception improves when you aim for the landing zone.
  • Play in a distraction-free environment. Even a split second of lost focus can ruin a perfect run.
  • Start sessions with a few "warm-up" rounds to calibrate your timing before attempting serious high-score runs.
  • Narrow platforms require shorter sticks — resist the urge to overextend when the landing zone is slim.
  • Take a breath between each platform. Rushing leads to errors. Patience is your greatest tool.
  • If you're on a long streak, resist the excitement. Stay calm and treat every platform the same regardless of your score.
  • Practice estimating distances in daily life — doorways, furniture gaps — to sharpen your spatial awareness.

Game FAQ

Yes, the stick extends at a uniform rate. This allows you to build consistent timing. Once you internalize the growth speed, you can reliably estimate how long to hold for different distances.

No. Once you begin extending, the only action is to release and let the stick fall. There's no way to shorten it or retract it. Commitment is part of the challenge.

Yes. The platforms gradually become narrower and the distances between them more varied. Early platforms are relatively forgiving, but by the time you've crossed 15-20 platforms, the margin for error becomes razor-thin.

A perfect landing at the very edge of a platform is the most satisfying outcome in the game. As long as the stick tip touches any part of the target platform surface, your stickman crosses safely.
